How Much Can a Co-Defendant Hurt Your Case - Court TV
Many things can hurt you in a criminal jury trial in Minnesota. Sometimes it is forensic evidence. Sometimes, it is statements that you yourself gave. One piece of evidence that should never be forgotten is that power of co-defendant testimony. The power of a co-defendant’s testimony to sink your case cannot be overestimated. This is especially true if the State can convince your co-defendant to flip on you. In other words, the impact of the co-defendant testifying against you in return for a plea deal from the State has the potential to be catastrophic.
Jack Rice appears on Court TV on 3/14/22 to discuss criminal law, criminal charges and the power of co-defendants in jury trials. Jack’s experience in this area comes from working in criminal courtrooms for decades.

It is called rebuttal testimony and it is designed to respond to the Defense’s case in a criminal trial and introduce additional evidence in order to respond to it. As a Minnesota criminal defense attorney, it is critical that they state maintain the burden to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that anybody charged with a crime is guilty. At the same time, they have the ability to put on any witness they want in their case in chief. If they choose not to and then wish they had after the Defense’s case, that is simply poor planning on their part. The burden is theirs and not for the Defense to help the state.
“An experienced Minnesota Criminal Defense Attorney needs to make sure not to get bookended by the prosecution.”

Watch Jack’s Appearance on Court TV
We have heard to the phrase "jury of your peers" many time. The idea that people who look like you should be sitting in judgment of you if you have a trial. Unfortunately, it isn't true. You don't have the right to somebody who looks like you. However, legitimacy is critical in trials and so is fairness. The Sixth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution says that “the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury.” Jack Rice, a St. Paul based criminal defense attorney appears on Court TV on 11/16/21 to talk about why it matters so much. https://www.jackricelaw.com

Can a Defendant Get a Fair Trial in This Environment? Jack Appears on WCCO to Discuss
Judge Cahill moved the criminal trials of the three remaining former police officers in the George Floyd case to March of 2022. At the same time, the Feds have charged several of those officers including Derek Chauvin with new charges. This will put pressure on these defendants to potentially find resolution in these cases. It also brings up the question of how much pressure there will be on the Attorney General’s office to go ahead with those prosecutions. We will see.
I appear on WCCO with John Hines to discuss the jury system, fairness and whether or not it is even possible in a case like this. Hope you can catch it.
