Working Through the Storm - Sometimes Sitting on the Sidelines isn't an Option

Based upon the lack of traffic on the freeways and the general panic of the populace, it feels like everything is closed, and many things are. Last week the Courts announced they too would also be closing. However, that’s not totally true. They have Constitutional obligations to deal with arraignments and bail issues and other custody obligations. This protects the rights of those of us accused of crimes. So, here we are, lots of dedicated judges, deputies, prosecutors, defense attorneys, court staff and I’m honored to be among them. In fact, I’m still kind of shocked I’m not one of the dudes in the orange jump suits. Does this work expose all of us? Of course it does. However, this is what we do. Society must and will continue and this is a small part of it in a small corner of America. Keep calm and carry on (and wash your damn hands).
