Jack Rice is Honored to Represent Mike Forcia in the Columbus Statue Case.

I’m honored. I really am. I look back over my career and I have been lucky to represent a lot of amazing people. Some of those cases have been extraordinarily difficult. Some of those clients have been challenging. Mike, on the other hand, is one of a kind.

According to the media, Mike Forcia was responsible for pulling down the Christopher Columbus statue in front of the Capitol in St. Paul. Well, considering the history of Columbus, the inaccuracy of the Monument itself and what Columbus actually stood for, to stand beside this man makes me proud. He has a presumption of innocence and if he is charged, we will stand together.

My family has discussed this topic for years and we have very strong notions regarding “the discoverer of America.” As things heat up, and they likely will because there are those who already want the statue placed back on its historically and morally corrupt pedestal, we will prepare.

When history is on your side, you have to take a breath, stand up, and do what is right.
