As a parent, can you or should you be held criminal responsible for the acts of your child? The general rule is, no. However, that won't always stop prosecutors from trying to do so. In the Ethan Crumbley Oxford school shooting case from November 30, 3031, both of his parents were charged with manslaughter for failing to recognize the threat and stop it. They allegedly bought him a gun but is that enough?

Ethan is 15 but this hasn’t stopped Michigan from charging him as an adult. He is facing 24 charges including one count of terrorism causing death, four counts of first degree murder, seven counts of assault with the intent to murder and twelve counts of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. What about the responsibility of the school to act? Now, there are also civil lawsuits. How does this impact the criminal charges? Ethan Crumbley has entered a not guilty plea to all counts. Nationally known Criminal Defense Attorney Jack Rice appears on Court TV on 1/12/22 to discuss.
