Minnesota Criminal Defense Attorney Talks About Bad Cops and the Criminal Justice System

The criminal justice system in the United States is struggling.  With questions about fairness, presumptions of guilt, racism and getting tough on crime versus getting effective in dealing with bad cops and why crime occurs, the system is dealing with questions of legitimacy. After all, if it’s broken, why buy in? As a criminal defense attorney, Jack Rice has been fighting for his clients everyday in Minnesota courtrooms and he sees it first hand.  As a result, he was thrilled to appear as part of panel discussion on Police Practices & Prisoner Rights  at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul Minnesota on February 2, 2021.

Jack sees the failures and how to anticipate them so that his clients can get a fair shake.

As a practicing criminal defense lawyer with more than 20 years of courtroom experience and as a Board Certified Criminal Law Specialist, Jack sees the failures and how to anticipate them so that his clients can get a fair shake.  Is race an issue?  Is it domestic assault related and how the Me Too Movement has impacted it?  Is it simply that because you are charged, you must have done it?  If it is any of these things or more, Jack has your back.

Several of the panel members alongside Jack were incarcerated in both State and Federal prison and discussed the inequities within the system and how they wished they had more people who were willing to fight for them, including experienced criminal defense attorneys.  As Jack listened, he felt gratified in knowing that when he and the entire team at Jack Rice Defense decides to take a case and represent a client, they commit themselves to their client’s defense and to protecting their rights.  Further, after many years, thousands of clients and many trials, Jack also recognized how much his experience has helped him change his approach in order to be more effective and more capable at what he does.

Anticipating where the system fails can be critical to defending a client.

If you are charged with a crime in Minnesota and need an experienced criminal defense attorney who understands what you are going through, give Jack Rice Defense a call.  As a former prosecutor, Jack knows something about how the prosecutor likely approached your case.  As a defense attorney, Jack has been here before.  Let’s sit down together and see what we can do to help.
