Jack Rice Teaches Joint Tanzanian/Kenyan Team to Handle Wildlife Trafficking Cases

Jack is thrilled to be working with Lawyers Without Borders again this year to teach a joint team of prosecutors from both Kenya and Tanzania to handle wildlife trafficking cases. This competition will help these extraordinary women and men hone their skills so that they will ultimately be more effective in handling these kinds of cases. This is critical as wildlife tracking is one of the fundamental ways international organized crime syndicates and terrorist organizations like al Shabaab and Boka Haram continue to fund their operations. In the end, it is really but Rule of Law.

Rule of Law is the thing that binds a country together. It is the concept that applies when people believe that a system is fair and just and applies to all. It is frequently just an aspiration, even here in the States but the hope is that it will work. This is equally true on an international scale. At this level, it is about countries working in cooperation and in tandem to better address problems and issues that stretch across borders.

Jack traveled to Nairobi last year and before COVID, was expected to be in Dar es Salaam soon thereafter. However, COVID changed a lot of things. However, it absolutely has not stopped poaching and trafficking and terrorist organizations. For now, he will teach online until international efforts dealing with the pandemic improve. Then, he intends to go back in.
