Watch Jack’s Interview on Court TV

Brittney Griner, seven time WNBA All-Star, two-time WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, Two Olympic Gold Medal winner, is still being held in a Russian prison for drug trafficking charges because of vape cartridges she allegedly had in her possession when she entered the country. She has been held since February and she faces a trial any time. However, is this fair? Is this right?

“These charges are extremely serious. Brittney could face 10 years in prison if convicted. In fact, if she were found innocent, the central government could actually overturn the verdict themselves.”

Jack Rice, St. Paul based criminal defense attorney appears on Court TV with Michael Ayala to break down the charges, what Brittney is facing and what could happen to her. Jack practices in Minnesota but has taught trial advocacy all over the world including Russia, Republic of Georgia, Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan, Turkey, Tanzania and more.

“The U.S. State Department isn’t sting it. The Russians are absolutely not saying to. In fact, there is one reason that Griner is being charged at all - Ukraine.”

If you are facing serious criminal charges for drug tracking in Minnesota, make sure you sit down with an experienced Minnesota criminal attorney. Many drug charges come with mandatory sentencing and presumptive prison commits.
